Established in 1957, CYO Football is the premier youth tackle football league in the Greater Philadelphia area, serving families across Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, Bucks, and Montgomery counties. CYO Football is the oldest and largest youth football league in Greater Philadelphia, perennially attracting the top players and coaches in the area.
We believe in developing the player AND the person. Our league is structured around that ethos. Many talented football players began their career on CYO Football fields: high school, college and professional. We cherish that tradition. Still, there are countless more CYO Football Alums who say, I am successful today in life because of what I learned playing football - that’s the legacy we are most proud of.

Coaching
Each program has only 2 teams, not 4 or 5 or even 8 teams like other leagues. This allows us to quality-control our programs and maintain high coach-to-player ratios with experienced coaching staffs to maximize player development opportunities. Many of our coaches played college football and have extensive youth and/or high school coaching experience and many have no children on the team.
Fundamentals
Our programs teach the mental and physical side of the game the way it is played today. This includes offensive and defensive schemes currently being utilized at top area high schools and the college level as well as modern practice and training techniques geared towards player safety and skill development. We believe youth football should be fun and memorable - but also foundational for players that will go on to play at the next level.
Competition
CYO Football programs compete at a high level. Area high school football coaches consistently comment that CYO Football alums are among the most polished and fundamentally-sound players when they graduate to the high school level. We believe that is a direct result of our long tenured coaches, our focused format, and the brand of competitive football our league fosters.
Experience
Above all, we aim to provide our young people with a football experience that enriches their lives both athletically and personally. The game of football gives young people the chance to form bonds and relationships that only come from being part of a team, and a part of this game - relationships that last a lifetime. Football is also a teaching tool that allows young people to learn life lessons through experience. We believe that if our players will work for an opportunity to play a game, they may become adults that will work for a career. If our players will lead on a football field when things are not going well, they may become adults who lead others when challenges arise.
Community
Serving the community is a key tenant of CYO Football and a core life lesson instilled in our players. Every year each team will select a community service project that benefits the community in which they live. 100% team participation is a league requirement.
“After all the cheers have died down and the stadium is empty, after the headlines have been written, and after you are back in the quiet of your room and the championship ring has been placed on the dresser and after all the pomp and fanfare have faded, the enduring thing that is left is the dedication to doing with our lives the very best we can to make the world a better place in which to live.”
